Telling Her Story

  • London Southbank Centre Belvedere Road London, SE1 United Kingdom (map)

Poet Rachel Long curates an exclusive space for women of colour who want to read, write and grow creatively.  You can book your place here.

In this new series of workshops, women of colour will have their voices not only heard but celebrated, nurtured and developed.

Rachel Long was selected as a Jerwood/Arvon Foundation Poetry mentee in 2015, and studied for one year under Caroline Bird. Her poems have featured in Magma, The Honest Ulsterman, and The London Magazine.

She has been commissioned by the BBC and The Courtauld Institute of Art. She is the Assistant Tutor to Jacob Sam-La Rose on the Barbican Young Poets programme. Rachel created Octavia, a poetry collective for women of colour at Southbank Centre.

Telling Her Story workshops will be borderless in terms of scope and stimuli, drawing from a diverse range of sources including beyond-the-canon poetry and prose, visual arts and music, to inspire and inform the writing of poetry.
