New Suns: A Literary Feminist Festival

  • Barbican united kingdom (map)

Loosely themed around feminist myth-making, New Suns takes its name from the epigraph to Octavia Butler's last, unfinished book "There is nothing new under the sun, but there are new suns". Ursula Le Guin identified the division of the public and private spheres as a function of patriarchal mythology: New Suns is an attempt to bridge this gap by creating a space to share not just ideas, but also experience and stories.

Full programme, including Preti Taneja, Marina Warner, Sophie Mackintosh, Bethany Rutter, Nisha Ramayya, Sophie Robinson, So Mayer, Victoria Sin, Khairani Barokka, Kate Zambreno, gal-dem, The White Review & many more: https://www.barbican.org.uk/whats-on/2018/event/new-suns-a-feminist-literary-festival. Tilted Axis will be there, joining over 30 publishers selling discounted books and posters, so please come and hang out!
